You can pop over to Caye Caulker for the night and enjoy that delightful little island and unless your flight out is super early still get back to the international airport in time (via water taxi or air) to make your flight. Or you could stay in San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) and also make your flight.

Alternatively, if you want to stay on the mainland, I'd suggest Black Orchid Resort near Burrell Boom, maybe 20-25 minutes from the international airport. It's on on the sea but is on the Belize River. Safe, good food, not terribly expensive.

HI

I'm going to be arriving in Belize from Guatemala via the border and will have one complete day before my flight out the next day at 12 midday, so two nights. I don't want to stay in the city and would love to find a nice little beach resort to relax for the day after whats been a busy few weeks, before my flight out but I of course want to make sure I make it back to the airport in time for the flight!
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

Thanks for such a swift reply.
So you think it is possible to make it to Caye Caulker and back in time for a midday flight? I don't really want to stay on the mainland but I spent too long in the lovely Guatemala. :-)
Do you have any suggestions for accommodation in Caye Caulker?

There are no beach resorts on the mainland that are really close to the airport, so if that's the priority, then I'd recommend either Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker. Both are nice but AC is definitely the higher budget destination (more tourists, shops, restaurants, nightlife, etc.). CC is smaller, quieter, lower budget, more laid back, and it attracts more backpackers. I don't know which one you would prefer.

From either caye, you can get an early morning flight or water taxi and make it to the airport on time -- a flight would be the quickest & easiest. Whether you go by flight or water taxi, make sure you buy your tickets a day or two in advance. The water taxi services and both airlines have websites with schedules & fares -- the links are on the BelizeBus site.

If you want to spend your last night on the mainland close to the airport, the D'Nest Inn (B&B style) is nice, and located in a quiet neighbourhood. The owner will probably drive you to the airport? Unfortunately, there's probably not a lot to do there.

Another choice might be the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel on the highway -- it has a swimming pool.

I made a typo in my original response saying that Black Orchid was "on on the sea but on the Belize River" -- should have written NOT on the sea but on the Belize River.

I'd like to ditto MisterBee's recommendation of D'Nest B&B. I've overnighted there a number of times and think it's the best place to stay in and around Belize City. Great owners, great included breakfast, very nice rooms with antiques, cable TV and Wi-Fi, in a comparatively safe residential area behind the Best Western Biltmore Plaza. It's not, however, on the water -- no, I take that back, the garden is beside a canal.
