We're staying on the beach in Belize next spring but want to do a lot of day trips to the jungle, ruins, etc. Does anyone have leads on private tour guides that might be able to accommodate two families?

You can check out Noel at The Watering Hole in the southern part of the villiage across from Tipple Tree and Sandy Beach. I know he does great snorkel trips. Also right next door to Noel's place ask for Frank at Tribal Arts. He works for himself when he isn't doing trips for Island Expeditions. I am not sure if either has a vehicle large enough but they are both local guys in their 50's, are very nice and know the area intimately. They can probably find transportation and provide guidance.

Have you booked your lodging? We absolutely loved the Hopkins Inn and Rita and Greg are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. When we head back to Hopkins we'll head straight to them for lodging as well as advice and referrals for tour guides.

For Cockscomb Reserve, consider Gregory Chun as a guide. He was raised in Cockscomb before the Maya people were moved out to Maya Centre Village and has a small lodging option with his family, Tutzil Nah Cottages.

Have a great trip and keep us posted!
