Placencia from Honduras OR Guatemela?

Hi all,
I've done multiple searches but I need a little more help please. We need to get from Copan Ruinas to Placencia, Belize.
Based on what I've found I think I have two options:

  1. Bus from Copan to Puerto Barrios - Water taxi from Barrios to Punta Gorda - Fly from Punta Gorda to Placencia
  2. Bus from Copan to Puerto Cortes - Water Taxi from Cortes to Placencia (but only on Mondays and Tuesdays)

My questions are these:

  1. Can anyone give me approximate total travel times for each option?
  2. Which option would be less expensive when all bus fares and border fees are factored in?

costs all up for the guatemala route from guatemala city. but you would just jump on a bus from chiqulma to puerto barrios.

$10 bus to puero barrios (5.5 hours)
10$ immigration
$25 boat to punta gorda (10am)
$5 bus to indepencia (11am or 12 noon)
$5 water taxi to placencia.

you can catch a bus from punta gorda - indepencia then water taxi over to placencia.

So the $50 ferry from honduras would be cheaper, and a lot less hassel.
