Hello all,

I'm leaving Belize shortly, and am trying to work out how many Belizean dollars I will need to keep on hand. I have three main expenses remaining:

  1. Taxi from Belize City (docks from ferry to the Keyes) to the airport
  2. Departure tax at airport (I assume they have one)
  3. Departure cost by land (I'm flying, my boyfriend is going leaving by land)

Can anyone give me an idea of how much these costs would be?

Much appreciated!!!

  1. Plan on BZ$50 (also payable in US$, and you might be able to negotiate a lower fare).
  2. US$39.25 payable in US$ (and I've heard by credit card), but check to see if it is included in the air fare.
  3. BZ$37.50

Leftover Belize dollars can be exchanged at the border, or at money changers on the main street in Chetumal (if he's going north). Also possible in Playa del Carmen.

By Air it will cost you US$39.25. Many airlines do include the exit taxes/fees in the ticket price so check your ticket.

I have also heard it is payable by credit card as well but it is easy to just put $40 aside with your plane tickets and get through the process quick and easy.
