I'll be going to Belize in May and would like to learn some of the local language before I go. Anyone know of some good Kechi (Ke'Kechi) Mayan resources or know of any lingo that might be useful?

I haven't found any dictionaries online for Q'eqchi' but you could try the Belize Forum (search first). Also, you should read How to Cook a Tapir by Joan Fry - really great. Good luck and keep us posted!

There are several really good Kecchi instructors in San Cristobal Verapaz, Alta Verapaz, the instructions are really cheap. One of the best instructors is Dona Roselia Pop, her cell 5685-0973 and her home 79504-298.

Another Instructor is Dona Cristina Lem, Cell 56231-829

You can contact me for more information oscar_capriel@hotmail.com

Kecchi is spoken in Alta Verapaz, Peten, Izabal , Quiche, Baja Verapaz and the southern part of Belize, so it is not a problem where you study this beautiful language.
