Are you sure you want to stay in Belize City? Why?

There's plenty of time to head out anywhere else in the country if you arrive at 11. Belize City isn't the nicest place in the world, Actually, it would fall somewhere near the end of the 'Niceness" scale. Spend as little time as possible there.

Hmmmm....I didn't read this as a request for a place in BC. Belize doesn't have a lot of "hostels" but some great, cheap options in any event. My favorite is The Trek Stop which is easily within striking distance since you're arriving so early in the day. You even have time for a stop at the zoo! Happy trails!

Hotel Miramar, Caye Caulker

Guess it could be that the OP just meant somewhere in the country of Belize, not in Belize City. However, when someone says "I'm getting to San Francisco at 11 a.m., where's a cheap place to stay?" I don't assume they are talking about staying in LA, Portland or Las Vegas!

thats the way i read it Lan man.
to get to caye caulker take a taxi from the airport (form a group before exiting, so you can share a ride - otherwise they want to take one person per taxi) to the water taxi terminal by the swing bridge. water taxi takes about an hour.

I read the OP same as Lan. Give us more info, Alyssaj: do you have a reason for staying in Belize city the first night? If not, where did you want to go the next day? I agree with all the previous posts, go directly to your next destination. As a solo traveler, your best bet is to just fly directly there from the international airport and save the $25 taxi fare + transportation from Belize City.

I agree with everyone else. You can get virtually ANYWHERE in Belize if you're getting in that early, including the Toledo District, which is about as far away as people go. At BZE airport you can rent a car or fly onward using one of the local airlines. Skip Belize City! Just go directly to your first destination.
