Hey, does anyone know if it's possible to get off the bus from the Guatemalan border heading to Belize city and transfer to Bermudian Landing?

Much appreciated!!

I think you have to go to the Belize City bus terminal to get a bus to Bermudian Landing. I don't know the schedule for the BL buses; they leave BC by the Northern Highway to the Boom Road, so you can't meet it on the Western Highway.

There used to be a bus service along the Boom Road, but I don't it runs any more.

You could get off the bus (from the border) at the Hattieville roundabout/traffic circle at the intersection of the Western Highway & the Boom Road. There are always taxis waiting there (for people going to the prison), and you could negotiate a price to take you the 8 miles along the Boom Road to the turn off to Burrell Boom where you could wait for the bus for BL. Or negotiate a price to go all the way to B. Landing. I'd guess BZ$30.

There is a little place at the intersection where you can but food & drinks.

To get off at the roundabout, only a Belizean Regular bus will stop there. Express buses & Linea Dorada will not stop.

Ok thanks for that - do Belizean Regular buses stay true to their name and run regularly?? From the border...? Thanks!

We stayed at the Baboon Sanctuary in August and the buses heading there are really limited. Even though I prefer using local buses (and they're SO much cheaper), we ended up hiring shuttles to get us to Orange Walk and another day to the zoo because the only buses offered didn't work for our needs and we didn't want to go clear in to Belize City and then out to the zoo when it was so close by shuttle.

In Belize, "Regular" doesn't mean they run on schedule. There are two types of bus service in Belize: “Regular” buses stop for passengers anywhere along the route, and “Express” buses stop only at main towns. The final destination of a bus is displayed in the front window of the bus.

Westbound buses to Benque depart the Belize City terminal on a schedule, usually hourly, and sometimes on the half hour during busy periods. I don't know about eastbound departures from Benque to BC, but I'd guess that they would also depart hourly.

Thanks for the replies - I didn't think it would mean regular!! Hopefulist - how much are the shuttles? There are only two of us so will it be affordable? How do you book and order them? Are they local companies or organised from BZE City? Thanks again!!!

You'll have to email for shuttle costs; since there were 7 or 9 in our group (depending on which part of our trip) we required a van which upped the cost. Contact information for the drivers we used is in my travelogue linked below - contact them directly by email or phone. You may have more and cheaper options needing only a regular car. Often the place you're staying will have contacts and you might try bargaining a little. I was really surprised how expensive shuttle services were in Belize, especially compared to the many cheaper options available in neighboring Guatemala. No regrets, though - the shuttles were convenient and we enjoyed the drivers very much.
