I'm based in the US, but I'm trying to help some relatives who live near London get to Belize for a family holiday. I know how to find affordable flights originating in the US, but does anyone have experience traveling to Belize from England? Any favorite online airfare vendors that you like and have used recently? I was looking at BA's pricing & it took my breath away (£1495). Not to mention the number of stops! They're looking to travel June 2013 (yes, next year) for a 2 week vacation.

Any tips you can provide are appreciated. Thanks!

I assume you really want them to go via the US so that you can meet them there and continue together??

An alternative might be to look for flights to Cancun, Mexico and then getting a bus to Belize. It might result in less time in Belize, but you should look at the time in Mexico as part of the holiday (not something to endure to get to Belize), and cost might make it a very attractive alternative.

For bus information, see the BelizeBus link on my profile page.

I spent a couple of weeks searching cheap UK flights to various places in Central America, and I agree - Cancun is probably the cheapest port of entry, with lots of flight options from the UK, and you can get there on a direct flight - as I found lots of other airport destinations in Central America needed me to change in Madrid, Miami or Texas.

Have a look at 'flythomascook' or 'Thompsonfly' as they do quite good routes from UK regional airports too - might save a trek to London.

Cancun...they will pay half that price if they fly London-Cancun.And direct is easy enough.

Then just get a bus into Belize(can be overnight to save time)..or.as #1 says, have a few days in Mexico to/from Belize.

I agree with previous users. Cancun is the best bet. Flights from London to Belize are expensive. They usually require an overnight stay in the USA (outbound)...

Other option is fly into Guatemala City - not as cheap as Cancun, but cheaper than Belize City - my uncle just came to visit me and flew London - Guate for 502 GBP return inc. taxes. From Guatemala City, you can get to the South of Belize in 7 hours (5.5 hour nice air con tourist bus to Puerto Barrios, 1 hour boat to Punta Gorda). Flights aren't non-stop, but don't have the long overnight transfer time in the US that flights into Belize City from the UK generally have!
