Hi,

I am just shopping around for flights to Belize for the end of Jan next year, cheapest I have found so far is £650. I was just wondering how this compares to others? I have heard that booking 6 months in advance is usually cheapest but I don't know how accurate this is and was wondering if I should wait, or is this a good price?

Thanks for any replies x

Hi. That sounds about right from my experience. We booked about 5 months in advance with Delta for flights in April this year and paid about £670 I think. I had found flights for about £600 but when I went to book it a couple of days later those flights had gone up to over £1000 so we had to start looking again. Try using the airline websites directly (Delta, American Airlines and another I can't think of at the moment) and playing around with all the options for where the flight goes via - we got cheaper prices doing it this way, and it also gives you more flexibility on stopover locations and flight times.

I agree with John. The third option, if you are even remotely considering renting a car while in Belize, is to rent a car in Cancun. You have to deal with a car rental company (American Car Rentals is one) that will give you written permission to take their car into Belize/Guatemala. The saving of flying into Cancun will offset the car rental cost and the saving is even greater if you were planning on renting a car in Belize. As John said, the deciding factor is IF you have the time. It takes about 10 hrs driving time from Cancun to Hopkins.

I managed to get flights earlier this year for around £500. I had to book the flights seperately however. I booked Heathrow-Dallas with BA, then Dallas - Belize city with American.
Even more strangely the Dallas - Belize leg was cheaper to book as a return than one way!
