Traveling to Caye Caulker in two weeks. Any favorite hotels/B&B type places with a private bathroom for two people and preferably a hammock somewhere on site? Not looking to spend a lot $70 or less. Also, any favorite snorkeling guided tours you could recommend? Thanks for the help!

Maxhapan is one Caulker hotel that might work for you.

2nd Maxhapan - where we'd decided to stay if we headed back to Caulker this summer. We ended up deciding to spend our time in other areas this trip but will end up there eventually. We enjoyed Sailwinds last time - the rates drop way down starting May 1st. We loved this snorkeling trip with Raggamuffin. Check out the 1st link below if you're interested. Happy trails!

We liked French Angel for a snorkeling tour to the reef. We didn't use their equipment so don't know how good it was, but we liked the guide. He was funny but kept a sharp eye on all of us. One of the less expensive ones.

I've just returned from a 17 days trip in Belize... In Caye Caulker I stayed at Mara's Place (the closest hotel to the Lazy Lizard bar). The rooms are nice, you have Cold/Hot water, 2 fans (no AC, but you really don't need it, since it's located just inf front of the sea, the Ocean breeze is nice) and your private balcony with a hammok.

Mara's Place has also a private deck with roof over the sea with 4 hammocks and some chairs also, from where you can see the people practicing kit surfing and other water sports.

If you make a reservation, ask for the one that's it just in front of the sea (I think is number 1 or 2). The room cost around 90BZ per night.

Regarding Snorkel tours, I've done the Hal Chan Marine reserve trip with Raggamuffin Tours. It was excellent, you go in a sailboat, you visit 3 places (Coral Garden, Hal Chan and Shark Ray Alley), costs 100 BZ including lunch, rum ponch and shrimp ceviche.

Hope you enjoy your time in CC.

Pablo
