Hello
Does anybody know the best way to get from Chetumal to Hopkins by bus? I assume that apart from flying that is the only way... How long does it take and is there a direct route? Thanks

In Chetumal, go to the Nuevo Mercado (New Market) and get one of the Belizean buses (they're the old school buses) to Belize City. If you get a bus that only goes as far as Corozal, then just change in Corozal. The buses from Chetumal/Corozal terminate at the bus terminal in BC. Another option is the 7 am San Juan express bus from the ADO terminal to Belize City, but then you have to get from the water taxi terminal to the bus terminal. This trip is about 3 to 4 hours depending on whether Regular or Express bus.

Now get any westbound bus. Perhaps the first choice would be James Bus Line because they go to Dangriga and you don't have to change anywhere. If you get any other bus (BENQUE will be displayed in the front window of the bus), you have to get off at the Belmopan bus terminal and change to another bus going to Dangriga. This trip is about 3 hours not including any waiting time in Belmopan.

At the Dangriga bus terminal, you might have to ask terminal staff because I've heard that the buses to Hopkins don't leave from the terminal. Buses depart from the riverside. The departure times I have are 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 5:15 pm. Trip time about 1 hour.
