Hello all,

My father & I will be spending 3 weeks in the Yucatan & Belize and would like to hike through some rain forest for a day or so. I mean Tarzan-style jungle with lushness and vines everywhere and with weird bugs, plants, and critters, not just a forest that happens to be in Belize. We are both in decent shape but not mountaineers, and we don't want to spend crazy amounts of money. We will be traveling by bus.

The catch is that we'd like to not travel farther south than around Belize City if we can get away with it (due to concern about time constraints; we don't want to spend like 2 days riding & waiting for buses each way). From my understanding, the farther south you go in Belize, the wetter it gets. Where would be the best compromise? Bermudian Landing/Baboon Community Sanctuary? The Lamanai ruins near Orange Walk? Or do we need to go a lot farther (e.g. Cockscomb) to get somewhere good?

Thank you for your input!

Hi,
Well I would recomend renting a car and driving to Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve.
You can rent cabins etc there and wander about.
I have been to Belize 2 times and never encountered to much rain.
I tried buses the first time and was not to happy with them.
But you can do Belize Zoo and the Reserve easily!
