Hello all,

We need your help in order to organzise the Belize Part of our tour this coming April. We will be on April 8 to Flores and on April 9 s/s of Tikal. We plan to leave tikal for Belize on april 10. I understand from various posts that is better to skip Belize City, so is there any way that we leave Flores to Lamanai on April 10, spend the night there and move to next destination on april 11. In order to facilitate your suggestions we have to be on Guate on April 13 for flight back home. What are your suggestions about Belize from april 10 to April 13?

Thank you all

If you're flying, you may want to check out a caye for a nite. If your taking public transport, why are you going all the way to Lamanai in the North. Stop at the boarder and stay in San Ignacio before heading out.

Where are you staying in the Lamanai area? The Lamanai Outpost Lodge offers a shuttle service between BZE airport (if you want to fly out of Flores) and the lodge for its guests, but it's an expensive place to stay. There aren't that many other lodging choices in the area.

Unless you're willing to pay a ton of money and spend all day traveling, it's not practical to get from Flores to Lamanai in one day.

After Tikal, Lamanai will likely be a let-down. It has a lovely setting on the New River Lagoon, but in size and in most other ways it doesn't compare with Tikal.

I'd agree that if you're going to only be three days or less in Belize, going to Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye would be a nice contrast to Guatemala.

I agree with Lan completely. If you're looking for more adventure you could stop overnight in San Ignacio in order to do the ATM cave trip - truly extraordinary - then head to Belize City and on to Caye Caulker (which we loved) or Ambergris Caye. Check out my Belize photos, travelogue, and blog below for ideas.
