Hey People

My fiance and I are going to Belize in August 2013 for our honey moon.

We are planning to move around quite a bit to see different areas and were wondering if it is cheaper to book accommodation in advance or on a walk in.

Kind regards

Will

Hi,
If you are renting a vehicle you can get away with walk in.
I went back to Pelican Beach and it was full with a tour bus parked outside.
I would not try using public transport!

When I was there I had no issue with finding a place to sleep and I just walked in. Sometimes I was in a hostel, others in a Hospedaje (like a bed and breakfast)

August is low tourist season, so you won't have any problem finding rooms. Usually, walk-ins are cheaper than reserving in advance.

I agree...rent a 4x4 (about the same price) and hit the road. I couldn't imagine how much I would have missed out on if I was relying on public transport for Belize especially.

It's a great place! Have Fun!

Renting a car/4x4 is far more expensive than public transportation, there is no contest. However, it does move slowly, depending on your timeframe it might not be worth it.

It may be slower but it makes a world of difference!! I would say that you would have 3-4 times the trip for another $50/day. Belize is not known to be a super economic destination...even if you only have it for two days you can see most of the major sites.
