Apols reposting here as initially put into wrong forum!

Reading through most posts on here and looking at guide books etc and it seems that there is very little beach options in the Cayes unless you head out to one of the far flung Cayes.

My g/f and I are thinking of heading to the Cayes for a few days r 'n r before we leg it up to Cancun and jump on a plane home.
However if there's no great beach options then my g/f will not be a happy bunny.
We will be coming in from the Cayo so going south to Hopkins isn't really an option.

Is it better for us to head north straight away and find somewhere beachy in Mexico rather than spend 3 days with my g/f getting more and more annoyed as she can't lie on a beach and tan herself into oblivion. :-)

Thanks in advance.

Yes, given your girl friend's interests and preferences, the Costa Maya is probably the better option.

spent 5 days on Caye Caulker a few weeks ago and loved it (was only supposed to spend 3 days but didn't want to leave). Not really a beach as you would think it, but the area around the split (north end of the island where the island is split in 2) is where most people sunbake and swim.
