Hi all,

My friend and I will be arriving in Belize on 2/10 for eight days. Tentative itinerary is San Ignacio, San Pedro and Caye Caulker.

Do you think we will be ok without reservations this time of year? Just looking for middle of the road rooms, nothing fancy.

Any recent dive shop experiences that you would recommend for San Pedro and Caye Caulker?

Thanks

Tim

I made reservations for the first four days of my trip in Caye Caulker but the next 2 weeks plus I will just be playing it by ear. Most of the advice I got on here was to not make reservations because things change unless you are 100% sure where you will be.

I would maybe make reservations for your first stop just because it is a busier time of the year but after that I think you would be safe playing it by ear.

You'll always find something, just might not be your first choices, you might have to lug your bag around from place to place a bit, and the best value places might be booked. If you don't book in advance you can keep some flexibility in, like if you head to Caulker after SI and then don't want to leave for San Pedro, plus you might get better rates walking up than booking in advance. Good luck!

If youre going to book something, do so with a dive shop. last time i was in caulker FRENCHIES (3 yr ago) was booked a month in advance. tried the other shops, same situation. before, i could just get on a boat, same day.

I wouldn't worry about reserving in advance, unless maybe you go to Caye Caulker on a weekend. Even then, you will find a room -- it just might take a bit of looking.

There is plenty of accommodation on Ambergris, but not much in the low budget range. If you want one of the lower budget places, I would reserve in advance.

San Ignacio should not be a problem.
