So!! I arranged my visit to Tikal with stay at the park hotels :)

Then I booked Placencia for whale shark diving and Caye Caulker for some other diving and sun....now I have a few days (2nd - 06th April) to arrange....

Lodging seems not easy neither (at least through internet enquiries), given the Easter time.... But, that apart, would you suggest to stay a few extra days in Caye Caulker, chilling and enjoying the reef, or would you suggest trying Ambergris Caye or any other island?

I wanted to make the Ruggamiffin trip, but dates may not match.....in the wait...brainstorming is open!! :D

Thanks!
Sam

Well, you are spending some time on Caye Caulker…..have you been to Ambergris Caye yet? You can always go to San Pedro and if it does not strike your fancy…you can easily take the ferry back to Caye Caulker.

My wife and I recently spend weeks on both islands and each has something to offer. We enjoyed the “tranquillo” of Caye Caulker and also the good restaurants and nightlife on San Pedro. I wrote a trip report if you want to scroll down a bit.

I'm the sort of person that likes to see as much as possible, so if I'd never been before, I'd head over to San Pedro for a night or two. Maybe get the water taxi to Corozal, stay there a night. Head south to Orange Walk and do the river trip to Lamanai. Back to the airport.

There's a LOT to see and do around San Ignacio, but if you're going to Tikal first and then Placencia and Caulker it probably wouldn't make sense to backtrack to Cayo. Ideally, you would include Cayo either en route to Tikal or on your way back.

You can do a day trip to lamanai from caulker but that might be a letdown after Tikal. cool river trip, though. I thought Abomigrease Caye Corozal and Hopkins were a drag, but I'm not typical. a lot of people dig them. I like to get around and check places out a lot, too. But I've stayed in Caulker for two 5 day terms, and that's saying something. I havent been to Sarteneja, but it looks interesting and I may visit on my next trip.

Ahh...you are all so inspiring!! Thank you!! I will now read your trip reports and consult yìth sites and websites you suggested :) Lamanai was on my original plan...then I droppd it for am will be on my own and thought about fitting some more diving in...

Ok, it'll be a weird way of travelling this time, due to some bad planning which was initially not in my hands....but still I will make it this funny way: first Tikal, then fly to BC, water ferry to CC, stay 1 night and then sailing & snorkeling 3 days to Placencia on Reggamuffin. After whale shark and som othr dives in Placencia area, I will resume CC and surroudings, on my way back for the last 4 days :)

Thanks so so much Frank, MisterBee, Lan, Hopefulist and Eddy! I'll take note of all your posts!!

Hi Again, Why do yo have to arrange everything? I think it might be to your advantage to wait until you get there and see what happens.

The diving ans snorkeling is superior on the cayes compared to Placencia. Whale shark may be the exception.
