I'll be going through San Juan twice in October with 5 hour lay overs each time, in the middle of the day. What can one do in 5 hours to get out of the airport and see some of the city? I'm female traveling alone, so would appreciate any info on worthwhile sites worth checking out in such a limited time, and how to get around in a safe & inexpensive manner.

I will be going to DR in a few months, and while I am spenidng the majority of my time in Santo Domingo, and the coastline...I would like to spend a few days somewhere in the interior...preferably in a town near or in mountain scenery. Where would you recommend?

Thanks!

Visa

My boyfriend & I are Australian citizens currently travelling in Sth America. Weve been invited to crew a yacht through the Caribbean leaving from Trinidad in about 6 weeks.

Have just realised we need to obtain visas for Trinidad but have no idea how to get one whilst were on the go. Does anyone know if Trinidad has an embassy or high commission in Bolivia, Argentina, Chile or Ecuador?

Also, I read somewhere that Australians can obtain a visa waiver on arrival in T&T for $50 - can anyone…

cheap accomodations

hi,
I'm thinking about coming to DR to do some kitesurfing in Cab/Punta Cana area. Just wondering if there is such a thing as 'hostels' or cheap hotels in the area. I'm used to simple rooms without the extras - I'm a bit of an adventurer so I'm usually doing other stuff and prefer not sitting around in my hotel, I'm even willing to sleep in a tent, if it's permitted. I'm also a solo traveller and I avoid the all inclusive thing so please tell me if I should look elsewhere to spend time during…

inexpensive rooms?!!!

I realize inexpensive isn't really in the vocabulary but do you have any suggestions of cheaper places to stay and where!
Ideally I would be on the beach, of course!!
I fly in on Oct 2nd, 9pm... and don't have anything booked... should I?!
Do places fill up quickly?!
I'm alone, don't mind hostels nor grass huts!
Please hook me up with some suggestions if you have any!
Super appreciated!
Happy travels!
