solo in Antigua on a budget?

I am planning an Eastern Caribbean island-hopping trip for the spring 2008. Despite being a budget solo female Cdn traveller who realizes Antigua is freaky expensive, I really want to visit it for a couple days. I've been trying to find a hotel/hostel/guesthouse/inn/B&B that is preferably not much over 100 bucks a night...not much luck . Does anyone have any ideas on places to stay?

Thanks

Entry Requirements thru Sept 30 2007

The US Dept of State allows exit and re-entry into the US from the caribbean with a birth certificate and official photo ID, until Sept 30 2007. Does anyone know if Turks & Caicos will let a US citizen enter and exit for vacation purposes without a passport? I can't seem to confirm that part easily, even after looking at the British version of the US Dept of State website. Thanks!

Three friends and I are considering booking a Cruise & Stay option commencing 2 August. Cruising around the islands of Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, St Martin, St Thomas and then staying a week in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We are concerned about the rainfall and possibility of hurricanes - should we be worried and should we avoid this area in August. Unfortunately it is the only time of year we are able to travel for any length of time ..... any comments?

Has anyone been there? If so, is it worth visiting?

I just happened on a website that shows a little (very little) information about Lethe Resort Hotel, and based on what little information is shown, it sounds like a lovely place. I'm considering spending three days there, but I'd like some first-hand knowledge before making a decision.

Here's a link to the website I found. Lethe Resort Hotel . Does anyone here know anything about the booking agency shown? This is the first site where I've…

My husband and I are thinking of going to Puerto Rico at Christmas through New Years. we will be renting a car. I know that we'll probably need to make reservations in San Juan (flying into there, spending a day or so and then exploring the island) but do we need to make reservations every step of the way? We are not real picky about where we stay as long as it is clean. I jsut hate to be tied to a schedule. We also want to visit Culebra and Vieques so havent' quite figured out the car situation…

accom close to snorkelling!

Thank you, Mymoosie, for your suggestions! They really helped me out!
I have sent out price requests for room and diving packages to a few places... we'll see how that goes!
In a perfect world I wouldn't have to be on a budget... especially in paradise!

Just in case I need to resort to more snorkelling and less diving... where would my best bets be to stay within close proximity of the beach and reef?
I'm alone therefore I would prefer to be in a social place... maybe I'll meet some new…

Hi
A little research concerning flights to Port Au Prince from Santo Domingo did not produce any results. Does anyone know if there are flights between the two cities. If not, any recommendations of alternative ways of getting to Pap from Santo Domingo? I Know that I can return to Ft Lauderdale and catch a flight with Spirit, but there must be a better and cheaper way. Thanks for any assistance
