Hey TT,

I'm heading to Hispaniola in December for about 2 - 3 weeks. The main destination will be Haiti, with some DR thrown in for flavor (all traveling, no work or anything).

I've got everything LP puts out on Haiti as of right now (which is pretty much just the downloadable chapter from Caribbean Islands). It's somewhat informative, but I was wondering if anyone here has any more information to put out. Just general stuff - recommended places to see, etc. My main interest is culture, food, and…

Hi,

I am getting some honeymoon ideas and am looking into Cap Juluca and CuisinArt as possibilities. The rooms look more luxurious at Cap Juluca but the food seems much better quality at CuisinArt. My finance and I want a lot of privacy, feeling like we have a slice of heaven to ourselves, and, we really appreciate good food. Any suggestions, thoughts, or comparisons would be helpful. And, any suggestions on when to go for good weather but lesser crowds would be great.

Thanks for your time and…

New years Eve

Hey! Where on PR is the funnest place to be for New years Eve? Not necessarily a club (I'm a little too old for the rave-all-night thing), but maybe a street party or somesuch? Suggestions?

Can anyone tell me what kind of activities there are around Negril? I am very keen to go to a hotel there and relax and do nothing, but my husband can't sit by a pool for more than a few days, he needs there to be things to do. What kind of activities are there within easy reach? Also, it sounds as though this hotel (Rockhouse) is quite secluded, we don't want to be near the package holiday masses, am I right in thinking the Rockhouse is away from all that? Thanks!

Carnival 2008

Hi there,

I've just been looking up the dates for next year's Carnival in Trinidad and I see it's on 4 and 5 February 2008. Is it only on for 2 days or are there a few days of build up and pre-carnival stuff that goes on and we should see. For some reason I thought it went on for about a week. How early do you think we should arrive?

Ta in advance

Flying from Brazil, where we live, to Miami Oct. 2. Wife goes on to New York City for a conference. I have 2 days to kill before I meet her in DC and have looked at various options, including Savannah. Looked at airfares from Miami to San Juan and then up to DC, and $214 does not sound bad. Tthree questions: likely weather in early October (certainly no guarantees; I think it is still officially part of the hurricane season). And if I stay in Old San Juan (we live at the beach in Brazil so…

What airlines are flying between Curacao and Bonaire, and any help in booking flights? LP says only that inter-island service has a "checkered past" and to ask a travel agent about who's flying w/i ABC. Already tried Curacao and Bonaire general info sites, and these only have flights from outside the islands. Help?

Hello!
I am going to St. Thomas for a week this October. I want to find a really cozy hotel for a reasonable price. I would love to be close to the beachfront. I want to spend $150 a night, but can go up to $200 a night for a hotel room. This is a double occupany room. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay in St. Thomas? Thanks so much!!

Haven't been in Jamaica since the late '70s. Fully expect to see many changes, but looking at recent vids on Youtube, makes me confident not that much has changed in Negril. I always ignored the resorts on the 7 mile beach, anyway. Used to stay with friends at Croton Grove in the West End and hung out a lot in Red Ground.

Looking forward to passing through Sav and checking out Treasure Beach. Never been. Sounds Irie to me.

Have checked out several low-budget hostels in Negril, as well as a…
