Hi all,
Everything I've read seems to suggest there is only a one day (usually sunrise) hike for the Blue Mountain peak. My question is, is it possible to organize an independent multiday trek? I have a tent and would like to get lost for a couple days. Is this even possible?
Thanks!

Hello! I have been looking for a while at many different places along the Caribbean and even on Central America. Lately, I was looking a lot at Caye Caulker, Turks and Caicos, and St. John.

Here is what I'm looking for: The best snorkeling and diving I can get (clear water, colorful coral, diverse marine life), a relaxed atmosphere, caves and mountains for hiking and exploration, pretty beaches, some fine dining, and zip lining. Budget isn't really an issue. We have a family with a man, women…

Which U.S. Virgin Island?

My family and I (wife & 11-yr old daughter) are planning a week-long visit in late July/early August. Leaning towards staying in St. John and renting a small villa. Is this the right island if we want something laid back and the most beautiful beaches in the USVI's? Other than day tripping to beautiful beaches the only other thing we plan on doing is a day trip to the Baths on the BVI of Virgin Gorda. Any recommendations for what part of the island to stay on? Flying into St Thomas and taking…

Can anybody recommend good "beach towns" in the caribbean? I've traveled a fair amount in Latin America and have found walkable beach towns where you can stay in B&Bs or rent a cabin/house and walk to beach/restaurant/bars etc. I'm wondering if something similar exists on some of the caribbean islands. I'm looking for locations that don't have (or at least aren't dominated by resorts), have local places to eat, and are easily explored by foot. A great example would be Montezuma in Costa Rica…

HI all,

We are heading to the BVI in late July and renting a catamaran for a week leaving from Tortola. It will be my husband and I and our two boys that are 7 and 9. I'm looking for some help with an itinerary. We are very adventurous and love hiking, exploring, snorkeling, and have travelled extensively internationally. We won't be diving because the kids are too young. We are looking for suggestions for mooring spots, restaurants or beach bars and adventures. We prefer more hidden spots and…

A couple of weeks ago, I was on a one-week visit to Haiti, and as I had consulted this forum in planning my trip, I thought I would share some of my experiences, also partly as a means of reliving the trip for myself.

  1. Obviously one week was really too short a time for a first-time visit (I would have had a bit more time if American Airlines had not fiddled with my flight bookings, but that's another story), and that notwithstanding I found the trip so rewarding I largely attribute to my…

Safety in Antigua

Hi everyone, I just had a question about whether Antigua is relatively safe to travel to? Previous posts in this forum generally seem to indicate its safe as long as you take normal precautions, but some posts are some years old so I just wanted to check. I had heard of someone who went there for work recently and was cautioned against venturing outside her hotel grounds unaccompanied due to the risk of muggings, which seems extreme - is there that high a risk, or was the hotel just being…

Hi, I will be flying to the Dominican republic as a solo traveller. I was looking at package holidays but I am worried that if I book this way, I will be paying double- as if I am travelling with 2 people. What to do?
