Hi,

I'm currently in my home town, freezing my butt off. This deep freeze has made me start considering an all inclusive (never done one before)...the prices for a solo person are ridiculous so I thought to myself if I'm paying that much because I'm alone, I might as well do it alone.

So, I'm considering Jamaica, a country I've been wanting to discover for quite some time, for a week, hopefully mid feb. I'm a fairly seasoned lone traveller, and I'm looking for suggestions of what is a must…

Travelling with a 1 year old and wanted opinions on the best beaches in small cities in the Caribbean.

  1. Walkable large enough town/city where it is not merely tourism/backpackers, but where locals eat, shop, live.
  2. Few blocks walk to a white sand gorgeous beach with calm blue water for swimming.

All I can think of is Playa del Carmen. Any other recommendations?

We have enjoyed staying in one room with the four of us (Mom, Dad and two teenage sons) on our travels through the US. So we are interested to know what are the possibilities to do so on Jamaica!

I would exercise caution on the Cap to Hinche stretch. We passed through it ( barely) a few days ago. Burning tires, thugs robbing passengers etc. We saw rocks and bottles hurled as well as heard gunshots. Our Truck sped us up to the block then had us get out and run across as the weight wouldn't have allowed him to make it over. He caught up with us ( 23 passengers) on the other side. Tense. I would ask locally about the situation at the moment.

Hi there. I'm just wondering whether it's ok to fly during rainy season between St Lucia and nearby islands. Has anyone done this? Are flights delayed a lot? Are they safe?! Sorry if these seem like silly questions. From some of my past travel experience, I wish I'd asked similar questions while planning other trips - I've have fewer grey hairs now :-)
Cheers

I would love to find ANY surf camp destinations or companies that can deal with a newbie who really wants to learn and misses the water, I'm landlocked in Colorado.. ha!

I have only heard of one good one In the Dominican Republic - http://www.swellsurfcamp.com/

Any recommendations in the Caribbean and/or South America would be awesome!
Thanks!

Hi there,

I'll be spending 9 days in Jamaica during February. This is my first trip to the island and I'll be travelling solo. I really love travelling by bicycle and am planning on bringing my bike to tour this tropical paradise. I'll be landing in Kingston, and departing in Montego Bay 9 days later. I'd also like to stay a night or to in Negril.

My questions and concerns are about my route. I've read that the road conditions are better along the North Coast, and that it's typically easier…

I read somewhere on the internet that the roads are not all maintained in Puerto Rico and you may want to think twice about renting a car there depending on what route you would drive.

My friend and I are getting off a cruise and spending the night in Puerto Rico and here is the route we have come up with:

Drive from cruise port in San Juan to Ponce to spend the day there.
Then, drive to Adjuntas to sleep.
Next day, drive from Adjuntas to Parque de las Cavernas Camuy.
Then, drive to Arecibo…
