One word: gross!
The international terminal at NAS is shabby, dirty, and noisy, and doesn't particularly invite travellers to rest for even short periods of time. While it's true that basic accommodations are very expensive in Nassau, it's far better to pay $40 or $50 to stay at the Mignon Guest House or the Arawak Inn than it is to hang around at the airport for very long. I suppose that you could get away with a short nap during the day, but I believe that the airport does close at night and I'm sure you'd be asked to leave.
The facilities in the domestic terminal are very limited. It's also likely that Bahamians would consider the sight of someone sleeping in the terminal to be ill-mannered at best...keep in mind that this is something that people do NOT do in airports in the Bahamas.
