Hi. I am looking for an end of August/beginning of September vacation in the Caribbean. We are a couple with a toddler. I like swimming at a flat, calm, clear, shallow, warm beach. What island do you recommend for me?
I read the lonely planet carribbean book that described all the different islands and their features and differences already.
I have been to Negril, Jamaica, Cuba, Maya Riviera near Cancun, Atlantis in Bahamas. I was thinking of Punta Cana all inclusive as a backup. Although the all inclusive is a good summer deal and convenient for a 4 day trip, it gets a little isolating and boring behind the gates for 8 nights.
I was hoping for a small island that is easy to get around by public transport bus. It would be nice to have a scenic lush beach to look at with palm trees or small mountains. I don't really want something like dry featureless flat arid Aruba, although that is probably a very smart choice at Hurricane season! :) So far, I thought of St Lucia or Grenada? I prefer a direct flight, no stopover. I wanted something that felt like a nice relaxing island-like vacation. Palm trees, a little sightseeing, swimming.
