How to get to Cuba without being in one of the 12 categories

Can I just get a ticket for Cuba ? Do I have to go from Mexico? Do I need a visa?

You only need a Cuban tourist card for each person. You can go though any gateway city nonstop by just buying a ticket. The best reason is as a tourist, but no one will ask. Cuban Immigration may ask the reason for your trip and how long you plan to stay. We have been going to Cuba every year since 1998 with no problems. Cancun, Mexico City and Panama have more than one flight per day. It is easy. Cuba loves tourists. Families seem to like all-inclusive resorts like found in Veradero and the Cayos.

You can buy tourist cards from the airline taking you there. Remember, Cubans earn twenty some CUP per day, about one dollar. So they seldom have any money.
