Looking to fly from London, Paris or Amsterdam and then take a ferry or two to arrive on a small Caribbean Island.
Does anyone have any thoughts on where we might be able to get to?
I'm very much hoping not to fly more than once each way but am trying to avoid the larger more touristy islands ....

From Paris, there are many flights to Martinique and Guadeloupe, then the Express des Iles Ferry links those 2 islands with Dominica and St Lucia.

Your budget will have a lot to do with your destination. A lot of the smaller islands can be VERY pricey. What are you looking for ? Diving ? Jungle treks? Beaches ? I've been to over 25 islands, they run from secluded quiet dive spots ( Little Cayman ) to lush tropical jungles (Tobago). Some places are for the beaches (. British Virgin Islands ) others for quiet little towns ( Union Island ). Let me know your goals and I will see if I can guide you.
There are not tons of ferries in the Carribean, namely:
- Mayaguez (PR) to Santo Domingo (DR)
- Fajardo to Vieques and Culebra.
- Between the Virgin Isles (and maybe once a week San Juan or Vieques in PR to VI)
- St Martin to the neighbouring islands: Anguilla, St Barts
- St. Kitts to Nevis
- Antigua to Barbuda
- Guadeloupe -Dominica-Martinique-St Lucia (fast catamaran)
- St Vincent to the Grenadines
- Union Island (SVG) to Carriacou
- Grenada to Carriacou
- Trinidad to Tobago
May be you will combine Grenada (check La Sagesse Hotel and cheaper places more in the north of it) and Carriacou
