| jtorsch05:28 UTC17 Dec 2010 | I am planning a trip back to Jamaica for the same week as the Bob Marley bash. I've never been that week but I've arrived a few weeks after and heard many good things. I stay about 20 minutes outside of Negril at a place called the Lost Beach Resort. There are also many neighborhood parties in the community which is where I always have the most fun. Little Bay usually has some unbelievable bashes, KIKI!
Check out www.negril.com and look at the message boards, there is alot of info about what's going on in Negril during that week. I'm sure the rest of the island has it's own events going on. Trip advisor forums have alot of good info.

| jannieb19:48 UTC02 Jan 2011 | Hello everyone,
We've just booked a 3 week holiday to Jamaica to arrive on 7th Feb, only to realise that Bob Marley's birthday is the 6th and there will be a lot of parties! We're wondering about changing out flights to come a few days earlier which will obviously cost us. Would definitely do it if it was just two of us travelling but we've got two little girls too (age 3 and 1 year) and wondering whether it's worth it. Any thoughts on partying in the daytime with kids for Bob's birthday and where would be a good place to be? We're flying into and out of Kingston and have not yet planned where we're going.
Cheers, Janet

| mikeymike16:17 UTC03 Jan 2011 | It is not really worth it to change your tickets, especially travelling with such small children. Also, why are you flying into Kingston, instead of Montego Bay ? ONE LOVE !! Mike

| jannieb16:42 UTC03 Jan 2011 | Thanks for the reply Mike. Glad you said that because we've almost decided not to change flights, partcularly since we've realised we'll be there for Fi Wi Singting which looks great. Have you been? We're flying into Kingston cos it was cheaper and also because we definitely want to stop there for a couple of nights, probably on our way home. I missed it last time I was in Jamaica. Cheers, Janet.

| mikeymike16:38 UTC12 Jan 2011 | If you want to visit a very unusual bar, then go to the towns of Black River are Treasure Beach and go to "Floyd's Pelican Bar". It is a better trip from Frenchmen Beach (Treasure Beach), and it is better to combine it with a trip up the Black River. If you do it this way, be sure to plan to have lunch at the bar. Other very nice spots to visit is Y.S. Falls, Mayfield Falls, Bamboo rafting on the Martha Brae River, Bamboo rafting on the Rio Grande River, Reach Falls, Blue Mountains, Rose Hall Graet House, Dunns River Falls, Negril Beach, Bob Marley birthplace/gravesite in Nine Miles, and Rockland Bird Santurary. ONE LOVE !! Mike

| mikeymike16:45 UTC14 Jan 2011 | First it is not good to try to see alot of Jamaica in one week !!!! Things move slow there, and it would be best to base yourself in one place and do day trips from there. If you want to see and do as much as possible in one week, then it is best to base yourself in MoBay. It not the best place to for "chilling out" and it does not have good beaches, but it is centrally locates on the North Coast so you are able to see and do more from there by doing day trips from there. If you want to just relax and chill and only see a couple of places, then it would be best to base yourself in Negril are Treasure Beach. One BIG question is, how do you plan to get around ? Will you be using a "private taxi" are "public transport". Using a "private taxi" will allow to do and see more, and it the safest and more fun way to go, but it is also the most expensive. "Pubic transport" is really cheap, but it will require alot more time and patience to get around. I also do not suggest using it after dark because of the safety factor. For places to stay: In Montego Bay Carter's Guesthouse 4 Bogue Heights Blvd. Reading P.O. (876) 952-5675 or (876)-554-0288 All rooms have ensuite bath - $40US (with A/C $50US).
In Treasure Beach Bebe's Place (check website below). http://www.treasuretoursjamaica.com Shakespears Cottages Check here for other places in TB http://www.treasurebeach.net Goldensands Guesthouse Phone (876)-965-0167
In Negril Jah B's (google it) Roots Bamboo (google it) Negril Yoga Center http://www.negrilyoga.com For more places in Negril look here http://www.negril.com
Let me know if I can of anymore help. I can also recommend a "private taxi" if you are interested. ONE LOVE !! Mike

Red Bones is cool but pricey, Gloria's is great but not really in Kingston, and Juici Patti...well it's fast food :)
