Hey,

I am currently living in Malaysia and would like to go to a wedding in Jamaica in April. It's in Runaway Bay. It's my understanding Montego Bay has the closest international airport.

I don't know of any locally based discount airlines that go to North America (Air Asia goes as far as London). So I'm thinking my best bet is to take a "regular" airline to somewhere in the States, then get a discount airline to the island.

Can anyone offer any advice on a route I should investigate?

Thanks

Jetblue does direct flights from New York to Kingston, and Orlando to Montego Bay. They also do various flights up and down the east coast.

Try researching the airports in Kingston and Montego Bay, and figuring out which airlines fly into them. If you're not seeing them turn up when you look on Travelocity, then you can visit their websites.

Try Airtran or Spirit out of a Florida airport.

Spirit sometimes does $9 fares (yes there are taxes) into both Kingston and Montego Bay.

Searching for Miami or Fort Lauderdale into Montego Bay on a comparitive site like sidestep.com which compares alot of travel sites and airline sites to come up with the fares.

Yes, you would prefer to fly into Montego Bay (MBJ airport code).

Try Air Asia X to Stansted and British Airways / Virgin Atlantic or charters from London to Montego Bay.
Check United/Continental from a South East Asia to Montego Bay.
Other options Malaysian to USA and Jetblue/Airtran to Montego Bay or Malaysian to Buenos Aires and COPA to Kingston (that'd be the most exotic route, but surely an expesive one).
