Good Friday - April 2nd, 2010

Local Jamaican legend has it that on Good Friday a certain type of tree will bleed at noon if cut into with a knife. Some say it's the "physic nut tree" (a tree similar to what Christ himself was purported to be crucified on) but I've also heard it's a fig tree.

While staying at Breezes last fall we had the chance to ask the General Manager, name slips my mind - forgive me, and he swore on the legend being TRUE. He said the tree was over at Hedo somewhere on the grounds.

Which tree exactly is it?

And is anyone on this board going to be down there at noon on April 2nd, 2010? If so, I'd LOVE for someone to be at the tree with a camera to witness the event.

Tex, I know you have talked about this topic.

Thanks,

Chad confused

P.S. I looked long and hard for a pic of this on the 'net, I came up EMPTY.

Jamaicans are very superstitious people.
They believe in the "dupy" (evil spirit) and "obeah" (fortune teller).
It is no suprise they believe in a bleeding tree.
Drink enough rum and smoke enough spliff, and I guess that just maybe you will see a bleeding tree.

the belief that the tree will "bleed" at Easter is from the Christian believers... not a part of Obeah or Duppy bizniz..

Ackeepod
I understood that it was just a Christian believe.
I was just making a funny point about how superstitous Jamaicans can be.
After all most J'cans are Christians, and they also believe in "obeah" and the "dupey"
I did not mean to offend anyone.
Sorry if I did !!
ONE LOVE !!
