Yet another visa question - double nationality

Country forums / Canada / Canada

Hello all

I have double nationality.
I have a 2 year visa on one of my passeports, which expires 1 month before my actual plain ticket out of Canada.
Before its expiry I will be taking a trip to the US.
I was thinking of filling a request for an eTA on my other passport. Would that be legal?
Or would it be possible to prolong my original visa when reentering from the USA, without applying online?

Thank you!

You need to contact the CBSA/CIC, not ask for advice for amateurs. It really depends on the type of visa, your nationalities and the situation. It's not something you want to mess up because overstaying a visa could result in major paperwork headaches and possibly not being allowed to return to Canada for some time.

advice from amateurs...

Thank you.
My eTA has just been approved so if it's not completely legal, it is not illegal either...

It's based on the info you gave them - if the info is incomplete (i.e. visa on another passport), there's no guarantee that you won't have hassles at the border. I would contact them directly to clarify.
