What is life like in Nelson, BC

Country forums / Canada / Canada

Hi,

I am curious about cost of living and lifestyles in Nelson, BC. I am considering a move to Nelson, but wondered if anyone could tell me something about the place from first hand experience. Thanks.

Nelson is a pretty laid back place. To buy land or homes there is pretty expensive I am told. The downtown is a bit of a trendy yet a throwback on the hippy lifestyle from the 60's. Because of the lake you get a milder climate from other parts of the kootenays. But with that you dont get as much sunshine in the winter. But Nelson is an ok place in my opinion.

Nice place to visit, but I'm not sure how much work there is in the Kootenays.
Check mls.ca for house prices.

totally agree with dromo. it is one of the most beautiful places i have ever been. i am lucky enough to have family there with a house right on the lake and you cant beat a summer day on kootenay lake!
