I am going to Vancouver for work in a couple of weeks, and I have three days at the end so I decided to fly back from Victoria. So I'm planning to take the 7am ferry from the mainland, rent a car in Victoria, and then return the car to the airport.

My questions:
1) If I come across the ferry as a foot passenger, how would I get to the car rental place?
2) How far is the airport from downtown Victoria (I have a VERY early flight home!)?

I'm going to stay with a friend in Vancouver later in the year (October) for 3 weeks and I was planning to get the Amtrak down to San Francisco for a week as well. I reckon 2 weeks might be a bit too long to doss on his floor so I'm looking for a cheap option for the spare week. I have family in Ontario (St Caths) who I would like to see but this looks really expensive and time consuming so might do it on a whole other trip.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I want to move to Whistler so bad it hurts.
Unfortunately, I'm an American and there's almost no way to do it. I'm not a student anymore, and the resort doesn't give offer letters so I cant apply for a Visa. Is there anyone out there who's figured out the loop hole for this? I'm sure there is one, I just cant find it. Or, does anyone know of companies there that do give offer letters? I am going to Banff for 2 nights this weekend. Since the time is short - I was wondering where I should go considering that my companions arent that excited to go on a long hiking trip?
