Hi There,

I'm a 23 yr old Aussie uni student looking for a change of scene for a while - I'm planning to take-up a WHP visa at the end of the year to work and study in Canada for a while. I've done quite a bit of administration/data entry work so that's probably what I'll be looking for while still studying my journalism degree (by correspondence with Monash Uni in Melbourne). Like I said before, I'm just planning to do the same thing as now but in Canada - meeting some new people and maybe doing…

H everyone! hopefully this thread won't start a big war between those from vancouver and those from montreal!

I'm a uni student, and I am applying to do a uni exchange in 2008, but I am a little torn between applying for UBC in Vancouver or Concordia in Montreal. Which is a better uni to go to academically? (I am studying commerce).

The main reason I want to go to Montreal is for the language - I lived in France for a year in high school, so I used to speak perfect french, but as the years go by…

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but my wife and I are planning an extended visit to Canada, and need some cheap sea freight deals to Canada from Melbourne Australia. We are only shipping about 5-7 boxes, but we can't see to get some realistic prices (so far we have been quoted around $1000 AUD.)

I noticed a few threads indicating how variable freight prices can be. Does anyone have any experience, and perhaps recommendations of a good company at a reasonable price?

Apologies if…

THE most expensive for the least. Cruelly cold and unfriendly to anyone not very well off indeed. No public transporatation, no affordable food, no gas after 5 oclock. No covered pay phone. No welfare office. 5 coffee shops and little else. Terrible excuse for services. Removal of even a park bench where 'street ' (poor) may be seen by the summer tourists. A monument to what is left of pre-war mentality. Heavy repression of any real artists. Absolutely the phoniest place I have ever been and…

Today's subject

Pay As You Go Cell Phone Plans

Who, in your opinion, has the best rates?

I'm not too fussed about the type of phones offered (I don't care to have a Motorola RAZR or anything like that, but then, I don't want a bottom of the barrel phone either... camera option is NOT required.. I've got 3 cameras already and I don't need a 4th)... I'm looking more for bottom line things like cost per minute calling in the Greater Vancovuer area and cost per TXT/SMS both within Canada and…

I'd like to take the Adirondack out of Montreal May 6. Need a nice, inexpensive place to stay the night before, near the train station. A family home? Hostel?

Good day,

Have 3.5 days flying into St John's to check out Gros Morne in Mid May.

Any tips on what type of car/jeep to rent for overland trip?

Any good places to stay this time of year?

Thinking of spending 2 whole days wondering around Gros Morne.
Any suggestions of which hikes are best in May?

Cheers, Don and Heather.

Hi,

We're looking for a bit of advice about driving around the Rockies. We may be heading over for two weeks in early September.

Neither of us drive that frequently (we live in central London; so having a car can be a drawback if anything) so we were hoping to avoid driving every day as it would really take away from the enjoyment of the holiday. I've had a look over the posts here which are very helpful in describing the drive, but I can't see much on how to minimise it.

So... We're starting off…

Does anyone have suggestions on finding a place to stay in Quebec City or can recommend a place? We're bringing our dog along. Thanks in advance!
