Jet boats? They are the ones with wings and stewardesses, right?

LOL...funnily enough I was flying over the river today Walu, and any local would laugh you out of town if you suggested cruising along it in your "jet boat". Do give it a try though - I'd be interested to see how you fare.

"I was flying over the river today "

I'm surprised your broomstick wasn't too sodden to soar (or not).

One of these goes anywhere you want it to, rather a large unit on the Fraser this boat is refered to as 'The Condo' and was out today-give Vic a call and ask him about it.

Im sorry, i know this was posted a while ago but as they say 'better late than never'

My husband and i went from Teslin (below Whitehorse) on the Teslin river to "the bridge" which passes over the Yukon River on the Dalton Highway going up to Prudoe Bay. The Teslin River feeds into the Yukon River. We left about the 28th May 2006 and got to "the bridge" about July 1st. Most people do start in Whitehorse though.

We have only ever canoed twice before and they where day trips. There is only 1 spot called '5 finger rapids' which was a little scary (but we didnt flip) the rest was fine. So as for only doing it with a tour, i personally dont think you need to, we survived and had no problems at all.

We took it easy and had no time limit, so when the weather was bad we sat in our tents and waited it out (make sure you take cards and a book or 2 for this occasion!!)

We only saw 2 grizzly bears the whole trip. We did see alot of bear signs (fresh poop and tracks) but in places like that you just dont hang around for to long. We took some bear spray with us but didnt need to use it.

The border crossing, if you could even call it that, was in Eagle. We got of the canoe and had to wait a couple of hours for the officer to get back from somewhere, so we decided to spoil ourselves and checked into the hotel there and have real showers, oh what a treat!!!! anyway we got stamped in with no bothers.

If you have any questions just let me know and i will help you out where i can, other than i would definatly recommend doing it we had a blast!!
