i was considering making my first visit to waterton this summer for 2 nights. i'm a little discouraged about the price of hotel rooms that's i've checked out (it would be during the last week of july or first week of august). i was hoping to pay only a maximum of $150/night. i've looked briefly at tripadvisor. just need a clean, quiet room with one bed. i do like pools so if it had a pool, that would be a great benefit. i wondered if it's less expensive in glacier national park and if it's as good was waterton? anybody have any suggestions, it would be appreciated. (maybe $150 just isn't realistic in the summer.) thanks.

$150 in a National Park, in the summer, with a swimming pool, is not particularly reasonable, no.
That said, forget the pool, and look a little harder.
The Bear Mountain Hotel will run about $100, the Kilmorey Lodge and the Cradell Mountain Lodge are both about $140.
I haven't been down there for a while, so I'm sure there must be other alternatives beyond those three choices.
Have fun.
Cheers,
Terry

Try this site:
Waterton accommodations
There are several that have rates within your range. I have stayed at Waterton Glacier Suites (overpriced in my opinion), the Kilmorrey (very nice), The Bayshore (older but it might have been fixed up).
Hope this link helps.

Both the Waterton Glacier Suites and the Bayshore are out of his price range...

Terry

Yes, I know the Waterton Glacier Suites is but the Bayshore does have rooms under the $150 mark, depending on when he wishes to travel. If he is there before June 14th, the rooms are fairly priced.

He's there, "the last week of July or first week of August" which is why I mentioned it was out of his price range...

Terry

Ahhhhh Missed the dates, I didn't read it very carefully. The website should be helpful though.

If you were willing to drive a bit to visit the park you could stay at a motel in Pincher Creek. It's not that far away and would be a lot cheaper than staying in the park.

The Kilmorey is kind of pricey in peak season but worth it, in my opinion. The Bayshore still seems run down to me, but the Crandell looks nice from the outside. We've also stayed at the Waterton Glacier Suites; they're pretty good, and they take pets.
For cheap rooms, try the Bear Mountain Motel (formerly the El Cortez), and the Waterton Alpine Hostel which shares the facilities (including pool) with the Waterton Lakes Lodge.
Glacier didn't impress me except for the resort which is waaaay out of your (and my) price range.
