HI

I am coming to Canada, Vancouver, for 2 or three days then on to San Fransisco. What visa will I need for Canada? Is it feasible then to travel on to Frisco by using the US visa waiver, I will be travelling across the land border and hope to take the train or bus to Frisco, is this eaisly done?

It depends on what passport you hold, not where you are travelling from, but.......

If you have a UK passport you can visit Canada without a visa and then cross by land into the USA using a visa waiver ($US6).
