I am wanting to do a couple of hikes on the island . One an ocean side hike and one a mountain/hill hike . Both day hikes (4-8 hours) easy to intermediate . Just wondering If anyone had any first hand experience/recommendations . I've looked at a few places ... So hard to decide ...so many beautiful places :)
Thanks

Have you checked Club Tread? Lots of island hikers on there.

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve has some trails that might suit your needs. Plus you'll get to visit Tofino, which is beautiful!

If I were you I would look at some hikes on mount Washington which is near the comox valley. Beautiful hikes up there I would recommend paradise Meadows. This is way out of the way but up on the very north side of the island there is a small hike to San Joseph bay (about an hour) but it is one of the best beaches on the island. The only one I have found that I like better is cape Scott which is an 18km hike in
