This Saturday May 12 is the 21st annual Fashion Cares in Toronto. It is one of my favourite events of all time and is the largest fundraiser of the year for the AIDS Committee of Toronto. If you are in the city, it is a MUST to attend. Though the tickets are $175/person, it has always been worth every penny! A really brilliant night out I always look forward to every year! Check out their website!

It is not a MUST attend.

you are right. your citizenship or visa will not be revoked if you do not attend.

Perhaps I should have described it differently.

It is the largest fashion show/ annual gala event in Canada and has raised millions of dollars. It is a spectacle of fun and glamour with live entertainment going towards a good cause. Its one hell of a party too!

I never miss the opportunity to go when I am in Canada with my friends. It is a MUST (at least) for us.

which years did you attend?

I have never attended that event. How much of that ticket price goes to the administration costs of ACT? I have noticed a vacant position on their website that is paying 40K per year.

Moreover, looking at their financial statements for 2005;

$77,000 - Investigate the feasibility of a merger that did not occur.
$400,000 - Yearly office rental
$41,000 - computer equipment and software

etc..... etc.....

$175 can provide rice for a family of 4 for 6 months here in SEA.

I would recommend you email a director at ACT for that information as I cannot provide it.

However, the original post offered my recommendation to a wildly entertaining night that will be taking place this weekend. Regardless of whether or not the entire ticket price goes to a charitable organisation, it is an evening event (spoken about all year because of its success) that I enjoy attending.

It is one of the most brilliant events to attend if you are in Toronto.

thats's all.

Newfiesarenotdumb - oh wow! You think 40K is a lot of money to earn while living in Canada's largest city? and $400K is a lot of money for an office in downtown Toronto with dozens of staff and volunteers providing all kinds of services? without arguing that all charitable organizations should be prudent about using their funds in the best way possible, I'll still think that maybe you should change your handle

Aroundtheworldticket - I am not thinking of donating to that charity so I will not email the director. However, when I do donate, I usually take time to research the flow of money. Maybe ACT are legit, maybe they are not. Enjoy the show.

#6 Thanks for your input. I will take your advice into consideration.

Rainboy - It does not take much intelligence to insult another persons character. Nowhere in my posts have I personally attacked anyone. You have obviously shown what kind of person you are. You can draw your own conclusions from that.
