Just wondering how old people coming to Canada on a WHV usually are? I am 27 myself and thinking about leaving for Canada in fall. Just don't wanna be the oldest WHV traveller in town (Toronto) ;-)

There are MANY WHV'ers in your age bracket in Canada. Don't worry.

the latest one we had here in Vancouver (that we know of through the TT) turned 33 this year so I'm sure you won't be the oldest.

Where are you coming from?
I'd say its the perfect age to do the WHV thing.

Are you planning only make friends with fellow WHV'ers? Why don't you surround yourself with 27 year old Torontonians who will be the same age as you and won't care if you are the oldest WHV'er on the planet.

I am applying for a Canadian WHV with BUNAC in December. The non student WHV's now have an upper age limit of 35. I am 34. That is my first choice for my gap year. I am not worried about being the oldest at all. I was a mature student at university and managed fine, and even as a Camp Counsellor in the USA I was in the older age groups but still made friends. For some reason there, among the staff, it wasn't an issue. Everyone just hung out and lived and worked together, from teens to middle aged staff. I also always prefer to stay in hostels as a traveller - sometimes many guests are much older than me and I feel young, other times I feel older, but I usually enjoy meeting some cool people. I think in some situations - like among travellers, shared experiences of college and the like - having things in common matter more. Even if you are much older than your WHV peers, you will probably find that the experience of livng and working abroad bonds you together more than age, gender, nationality etc.

I am not worried about being surrounded by 18 year olds with WHV's. For one, I want to meet lots of Canadian people. Also people from around the world. Nothing against other Brits of course - I am onre myself. But, I don't want to fly for miles to communicate only with other British people. My only concern is whether finding a job will be difficult at my age, though hopefully I can use my work experience to my advantage. I must admit that although I lived, worked, studied and socialised with people younger than me, the ski resort and summer resort scene just doesn't appeal these days. I am considering whether to try and find a smaller town or city in Canada - instead of Vancouver, my arrival city, in the hope of making more Canadian friends.

I'm 27 and heading back to Canada for another year - to Disneyland for teenagers, Whistler! Don't worry about your age, there's plenty of us out there! :) Enjoy

Forgive me if I'm missing the plot here but I've looked on every website I can find and all I keep seeing is the 18-30 age restrictions for UK citizens wishing to travel to Canada on a WHV. I always assumed it was 35 but now I'm starting to get paranoid (I'm currently 32 and looking to get to Canada in the next couple of years.) Can anyone shed any light?
