Hi All,
I'll be in Montreal between June 23 and June 26. Was looking forward to catching something at L'Opera de Montreal, but they just ended their last showing and won't begin again until September. I won't be able to catch the Jazz Festival either.
Does anyone have any recommendation as to what they liked in terms of theatre and arts? I'm specifically interested in operas, plays, musicals, symphonies, and jazz. Preferably English speaking. But really, I'm open to anything (i.e. free concerts in parks, comedy shows, etc). Searches for recommendations and descriptions have been limiting (including on LP TT and web sites:www.ticketmaster.com, www.bonjourquebec.com, www.pda.qc.ca). I already have the LP Montreal & Quebec City book.
Thanks!
Best, Carolyn

Not necessarily a symphony, but close, is the International Fireworks competition at LaRonde, the city's amusement park. You can buy tickets to access the site, or pull up a folding chair to any riverfront space and use a portable radio to listen to the accompanying music.
Otherwise, check Bonjour Montreal. Just selected the dates on the calendar on the right side of the page, and take a look at the listings. Most have links for more information. Hope that helps!

You're lucky. There are two excellent festivals happening while you're in town. The first, and what would be my first choice for "jazz" is L'Off. Here's the link ...

The Ivanhoe Jolicoeur Bathyscaphe show would be well-worth seeing. It's in a fabulous venue, as well. Perfect for jazz. Actually, you can't go wrong with any of the shows at this festival. That might be a big statement, but I've gone for years and never been disappointed by anything I've seen, or in any of the venues.
There's another, more "out there" festival happening at Casa del Popo during the entire month of June. Here's the link.

You should be able to find lots of stuff to see and do while you're there.
