Hi, I will take the train to Churchill, MB in September. Considering parking costs, gas money, difference in train ticket prices, time spent, etc. is it better to drive all the way to The Pas and take the train from there (free parking, train ticket of about $210) or just take the train from Winnipeg (paid long-term parking and a train ticket price of about $327)?

Thank you very much in advance for any advice - and any other tips you can throw my way!

I used to drive back and forth between Winnipeg and The Pas when my girlfriend was teaching in that community years ago. It's a long (7 hr) boring drive, and few attractions along the way, unless you want to stop in at one of the Indian Reservations. You'll have to do your own math to figure whether it's worth it or not. I believe gasoline is about a dollar a litre now in Winnipeg.

Take the train from Winnipeg. Costs will be comparable either way.

Donuts? I told you I don't like ethnic food!

Fuel prices currently $1.20/l in Winnipeg. I hope you have a great time & see Beluga's & polar bears!
