I actually lived and went to school in PEI for 4 years after highschool. It is a very beautiful province. Best to just drive around and stop wherever. You cannot get lost on PEI. Pack a luch and take all the side roads you want. The great thing about PEI is there are fantastic restaurants is almost any town. If you do 1 touristy thing, let it be a lobster supper in the Cavendish/New Glasgow area. Its not fancy, but it is delicious!

My spouse and I spend a week on PEI every summer. Late July-early August is a great time of year to go.

Here are my top picks for a couple:

- Beaches (we're partial to Brackley; Stanhope has a large sandbar and is often even warmer; Cavendish is the most crowded but has the best people-watching. Any PEI beach has plenty of solitude if you walk 5 minutes)
- Cycle the gorgeous Homestead Trail (part of PEI National Park, near Cavendish)
- Cuddle at a drive-in movie at the Brackley Beach Drive In Theatre
- Have lunch at the friendly Charlottetown Farmers' Market (Wed or Sat)
- Romantic dinner at Dalvay by the Sea - go early and have a glass of wine on the porch
- A round of golf somewhere
- Drive or bike the backroads (I think the prettiest ones are in the area called Anne's Land on the tourist map - there's a look-off at Clinton, which has a gorgeous panoramic view)

There's a new restaurant called Dayboat (near Rustico) that was getting a huge amount of buzz last summer but we haven't tried it.
