Hi
I am a Vancouver resident going on my 2nd sojourn to the Okanagan June 3 & 4. Having already spent some time in both Penticton and Kelowna I am interested in staying somewhere else. I am particularly interested in Naramata, which I found lovely when I visited last time! However, their lodging offerings are relatively slim so I'm branching out now. I have also found some places in Peachland but have no idea what Peachland is like so could someone please advise on the general vibe of Peachland and how it compares scenery-wise and otherwise to other locations between Kelowna & Penticton? Are there any other areas I should look into?
Accomodation recommendations are most welcome too! I am traveling just with my boyfriend. Budget is as low as possible, which looks $125 for a double as far as I can see :-( I am willing to spend a wee bit more if it is something spectacular and worth it for the extra amenities (read: hot tub) or spectacular view. I usually don't like B&Bs because of the closed-in feel and loss of privacy but I don't think we have a choice in these areas do I?
I'm not really sure what kind of "feel" I want although I have to say that I do not want to be too isolated. I worry that some of the B&Bs are smack dab in the middle of nowhere. I'd like to have a few things (beach? hike? food? wine?) within walking distance (by that I mean it can take an hour to get there, as long as it's possible). Is the Naramata Bench a good area as far as these stipulations are concerned?
And one last question--has anyone here stayed at the Village Motel in Naramata town?
thank you all for your help! I loved the OK so much last time I was there and

Naramata is located on the same lake, just 10 km from Penticton, so you should be able to imagine what it looks like. All small towns around the lake are quite similar. Mostly B&B's available in these areas, but a few small motels/hotels mixed in.
Kelowna is going to have your best selection of accommodation, restaurants and things to do, however everything is accessible in this area if you have a car.
I assume you have already checked this site, but just in case: http://www.discovernaramata.com/accommodation.php

one more thing - accommodation in the Okanagan is very expensive. June is not yet the high season so you might get a reasonable rate, but in the summertime you won't find much except a cheap roadside motel for $125

I find each little area to very much have it's own feel, which is why I'm asking for personal opinions. One place might have a nicer beach, better amenities, different view, different vibe, etc than another.
I like Osoyoos because its hot hot hot and I usually find a place right on the beach for a decent price.

LOL, that's cute Mr/Ms Psychosis. Maybe some day I will live there :-)
Actually I do like the hot hot hot of Osoyoos but kinda want the convenience (and scenery) of the areas btwn K & P
Am starting to find some sub-$100 b&bs in Peachland...
Anyway, I;m sure whereever we stay will be nice.
We will make sure to disturb the locals nice and good, too ;-)

After some more research we decided to pick a place in Naramata! Seems Peachland is cheaper in general and I'm getting the sense there might be a reason for that. Anyway, Naramata was where I wanted to stay in the first place.
Can anyone (curmudgeons included) please let me know if it is possible for 2 (intrepid and fit) walkers to WALK from Naramata to Penticton? We have a car but I prefer to use it as little as possible--thanks :-)
Google maps says about 15km. If you have a bike it's a great ride and there's also a beautiful section of the Kettle Valley Trail in the area.
