I do remember Greyhound. Every flight was routed through Winnipeg, where everybody had about an hour layover because plane changes were mandatory.
It was just enough time to grab some greasy kiosk food, have a smoke, a semi-leisurely dump and on to Toronto.
Quite civilized really.

If you live in Vancouver and area, it is definitely a good deal. But for me and many others who live far away from YVR, it may not work out with connecting flights. There is always a danger of missing the 2nd flight if there is a delay with the 1st one. And with discount airlines, I don't think you can get your money back or on the next available flight if you miss your flight.

yes its true as a promotion they were giving away 1000 free tickets - it wasn't the first 1000 though apparently it was random - all you have to pay is the charges and fees and you must book online
an article from last week:

Hong Kong budget airline to start Vancouver, B.C., flights
HONG KONG — Hong Kong-based budget carrier Oasis Airlines, which currently flies between Hong Kong and London, said today it will start operating flights to Vancouver, B.C., in late June.
The low-cost, long-haul airline will fly six days a week between Hong Kong and Vancouver International Airport for fares more than 40 percent lower than rival carriers, chairman Raymond Lee said.
One-way economy tickets, which go on sale from Wednesday, start from $254.60, the company said. Rival operator Cathay Pacific Airways charges about $1,279 for a round-trip for the same route during June.
Oasis, which was launched last October as the first Asian budget airline specializing in long-haul routes, said it has achieved a cash flow break-even in its first five months of operation. Its flights to London have been popular, Lee said, with economy class seats 90 to 98 percent occupied, Lee said. "The Hong Kong to Vancouver demand may be even higher than the Hong Kong to London one," he said. The airline has bought three more Boeing 747-400s from Japan's All Nippon Airways, expanding its flight to five, Lee said.

NINETY to NINETY EIGHT percent occupancy`in cattle class?? ... sheesh.
I do believe that this will be as successful as the London -> Hong Kong route. I say bring on the competition. I've been waiting for a good fare to HKG and been discouraged to go via Cathay, Scare Canada or others.
The issue is $254.60 plus exactly how much Airport 'improvement' fee, security and customs fee, etc etc there is.
306 pounds one way with all taxes? I realize its a long way to go East of the UK.. but that seems like alot of $$ to go one way...maybe its all the added taxes.
Incidently- the first date of Vancouver operation is June 28th.
