Anyone see the ad in this a.m.'s Vancouver Sun about Oasis Hong Kong flying out of Vancouver this summer?

I see that it is in operation in the UK.. any comments about this supposedly low cost airlines to HK?

You see, in Canada we're a little skeptical about new airline start ups (followed by not-so-sudden failures..): Canada3000, Greyhound Air <remember them?>, JetsGo, now Harmony Air

The difference here is that Oasis Hong Kong isn't a new airline start-up at all- they're a Hong Kong based airlines that's been flying to various places for a while.

If someone is flying to Hong Kong and wanted to save money, I think it would be an excellent way to get there.

Is "Hong Kong" safe to travel to?

This looks interesting but I have just looked on their website and they only seem to have London-HK flights.

Yes after looking at the site I see you are right Ulyssa. They currently only fly to London.

Nevertheless, I expect this airline will do well. They are picking their routes well so far and the word on the street is a lot of Chinese are eager to have a cheap asian alternative to Cathay Pacific flying to Hong Kong.

By the way, they are apparently having a promotion to kick off the YVR-HKG route.

I've flown with them from LHR > HKG, and it was good. Better than BA and AC at least ;)

UK prices aren't shown with taxes - my base price was 200quid return, with taxes it was 306quid return.

Food was OK, service was reasonable. The flight left early both ways!

Luggage allowance is a bit scutty, but for the price I can't really complain.

Aircraft are ex-Singapore airlines, and seemed to be well maintained.

Would I fly again? Yes.

As always, book with a credit card - that way if they do decide to go down, they won't take your money with them. I learned my lesson with Canada3000 ;)

The update:

There is a half page Ad in this a.m.'s paper- $299 (plus all sorts of tax & fees) from YVR to HKG one way. No details of specific departure dates that I could find.. I think that they are hoping to be runnin by this summer.

The first 1000 tickets are to be 'free'. . (incidently- nothings 'free' when it comes to flying in this country..)

Comments?
