Hi All,
I've read a bit about getting from the Montreal airport to accommodation at night time.

Not a lot of it has reassured me.

Recommendations at that hour have said not to get the bus, however I have also read some stories about cab journeys and attacks that have happened. Any suggestions for how to do this safely late at night?

Thanks!

The bus is safe. Taxis are safe. I'm not sure where you heard such stories.

FWIW, the bus does not stop between the airport and (near) downtown so the only people on it would be travelers and airport staff.

Thank you! I was told that by the hotel that it was a public bus at night time. What I read hadn't made it clear re travellers and airport staff and that it didn't stop and pick people up along the way. Greatly appreciated.

There was also a LP article that indicated some in the past there had been some problems with taxi and night time with some assaults.

I never of cab drivers attacking their clients. Planes crash, does it stop you from flying?

It is a public bus. However it does not stop between the airport and Lionel-Groulx metro station closer to downtown. There is no reason someone would take this bus unless traveling to/from the airport. Regardless, even if it did stop and your "regular joe" got on, Montreal is a relatively safe city and you shouldn't have anything to fear.

More info on the bus here.
