Hey it's travel, people rent cars and RVs.
So it turns out the complaints are right, we are being gouged
Use the handy little calculator to find out how badly you're getting it

In Saskatoon it went up AGAIN today 5c per litre.... We are looking at 118/litre for regular.
I would think we are approaching the threshold where low income people will no longer be able to drive.

The Peg is still pretty reasonable: $1.10 a litre and I can get 11 cents a litre knocked off if I go to superstore on the weekends. I'm thinking I should just get the Co-op membership where you get 13 cents a litre back in proceeds at the end of the year.

$1.23/L here on Vancouver Island. Time to buy one of those silly little scooters like on Dumb & Dumber.

I would assume if prices are at this level so early in the season that prices should hit the range of $1.50/litre on the long weekends this summer, maybe the oil companies will finally hit a price that 'will break the camels back'.
In Lloydminster it just hit $1.18, the price has jumped $0.20 in under two weeks.

Gas companies better be careful....if they continue to increase prices over the summer, I imagine that the calls for greater government scrutiny/regulation will only increase, particularly from the opposition as they see an opportunity to exploit consumer grumbling.

Yup, as long as people drive, as long as there is consumer demand, they'll keep on charging what they want (as per the oil rep on the news last night). Apparently after Katrina hit and gas first went above $1 and there weren't massive outcries and protests - that was the testing ground as to whether we'd put up with high prices.

Ah, the Montreal metro. Such a fine idea at $2.75Cdn. Public transport isn't enough. It needs to be affordable.

But I certainly hope this will be an impetus towards a more sustainable development with intelligent densification (multi-storey buildings rather than sprawl, but with a healthy provision of balconies, parks and gardens) and more rail-based public transport

Singapore comes to mind... They have done a fabulous job of integrating public transportation and high density communities. An incredible example to the world.
