Help, I have never been to Van Couver island before and want to take my 14 year old grandson fishing there as his 8th grade graduation trip........any thoughts on a cool place to take him........any resorts that aren't too pricey? We will probably have a car.....thanks ahead

If you have a car, then Tofino/Ucluelet.
If you don't, then somewhere around Victoria.

Define "resorts that aren't too pricey."

Donuts? I told you I don't like ethnic food!

thanks, will most likely have a car. it doesnt have to be a resort, just low key place to take him so he can catch fish. I am thinking of staying 3 to 4 days and have no idea of what kind of fish or where to go. I just know I have taken him on deep sea fishing trips and he loves it.....he is toal fisher dude. he fishes off the beach here in so CA and we have gone out on 1/2 day boats..........so hate to sound like I don't know what is what......but I dont. I am just a granny who loves her grandkids..any and all help or ideas are welcome

A Salmon & Halibut charter on Vancouver Island for two people will be upward of $C1,000/day although some operations will do half day trips.

Canadian Princess has some 'party boats' out of Ucluelet that might work and are certainly cheaper.

Big Bear is a full service operation as is Morning Magic

A relative of mine does charter fishing for salmon out of Victoria, BC and seems to be good at finding and catching them. He does day and half-day trips rather than overnight ones, though. Based on his website it seems like July and August are better months for salmon fishing than June. His website is here: http://www.sidetrackcharters.com/fishing-charters-sooke.
