I am currently in South Korea and wondering if I should get my teeth done here or wait until I go back to Alberta..
The dentists here charge $10 for silver (amalgam) filllings, and $250 for a gold or a white one!!! Only the silver is covered on the insurance plan of course.. How much would one gold filling be in Canada? (ballpark cost)
She said that it is not worth getting the silver as they wear easier and are more likely to crack and I will need to repair the teeth later... which is why she says gold.. my insurance at home says that I have to pay the difference between the cost of the amalgam and the other kinds of fillings..
I have 2 weeks to get something done here if I want..then it is off back home. So any good advice?
thanks

I don't believe your dentists bullshit theory about silver fillings as i have a few which were installed in my mouth back in the 70's and are still going strong today.Of course she's going to push the pricier ones as she has to pay for her condo and cottage at the lake.

Anyway, my dentist gives me white fillings these days, except one silver one two years ago because i had a cavity under my lower gum as white ones apparently need to be completely dry to 'set', whereas silver ones don't.

On a related note, if it's cheap dentistry you're looking for than you should take a trip to Bangkok before coming back to Canada.
