Hi!
I'm a college student who is going to be staying in Chicoutimi, Quebec for five weeks with a host family, but I'll be getting there a couple nights early and need to find a hotel.
I was wondering if anybody has already been to Chicoutimi, and knows of good (safe) hotels for reasonable fares (40-80$/night?). I was looking at Hotel du Fjord which seems alright from the website, but I'd like to hear from people who have had experience staying in the city. I arrive on June 29.
Thanks so much!

I went to Chicoutimi for the french immersion programme too! I can't suggest a hotel (I stayed with my host family the whole time), but I can pass along that I had a fabulous time there. Make sure you go to Quebec City for the summer festival (July) and get a carload of people together for a weekend roadtrip to Montreal... The town itself is charming and safe....I'd surprised if there was an unsafe hotel there.
Also if you can borrow a bike to use while you are there you'll be fine for transportation (it's pretty small). Oh and it can get really hot in the summer there so bring your light clothes.
Wow... the memories, have fun!
